Job Description
The Pebbles Project Trust is a registered NPO that supports children, families and communities on wine farms in and around Stellenbosch and Wellington, Citrusdal and in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. The work of Pebbles consists of 5 main pillars: education, health, nutrition, protection and community.
The Pebbles Project seeks to employ a Professional Nurse based in Grabouw on a Fixed Term Contract for 6 months, with the possibility of the contract being extended.Position Requirements:
- Professional Nurse, registered with SANC (South African Nursing Council), with a Diploma in General Nursing or Degree in Nursing
- Have an accredited qualification in Occupational Health Nursing (must show on SANC Annual Practice certificate)
- Have a Dispensing License OR a recognised Certificate in Dispensing for Healthcare Professionals
- Have professional indemnity cover
- A post-basic or post-graduate qualification in Primary Healthcare will be advantageous
- Ideally, have current membership of SASOHN (South African Society for Occupational Health Nurse Practitioners) or be willing to join SASOHN
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English
- Excellent writing skills

Primary Health Care Services
- Conduct Primary Health Care consultations to children and adults
- Perform medication management tasks, including prescribing and administering medication
- External referrals of clients
- Collaborate with other health care professionals to provide coordinated patient care.
- Record all consultations on the information system
Wellness and Occupational Health Services
- Screen for TB, HIV and malnutrition
- Conduct health assessments, screenings and physical examinations on clients
- Provide client education and counselling on health and wellness topics
- Check the Road to Health Chart for deworming and immunisation status
- Conduct pre-employment and annual health assessments, including but not limited to physical exams, immunisations, and tuberculosis screening
- Provide first aid and emergency care for work-related illnesses and injuries
- Develop and implement health promotion programmes and educational initiatives
- Perform follow-up consultations
- Family planning services
Administration
- Assist with stock management and the ordering of consumables, where applicable
- Capture medication on the electronic inventory system
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Stay current on health care trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities
- Implement Health and Safety protocols
Working hours will be from Monday - Friday from 07:00 to 15:30
